birth
to
some
preceding
circumstances
of
festive
merriment
,
which
,
from
the
wit
of
the
company
,
and
the
very
ingenious
Author's
peculiar
oddities
,
were
probably
enlivened
by
some
poignant
strokes
of
hu
mour
.
This
piece
was
only
intended
for
the
Doctor's
private
amuse
ment
,
and
that
of
the
particular
friends
who
were
its
subject
;
and
he
unfortunately
did
not
live
to
revise
,
or
even
finish
it
,
in
the
manner
which
he
intended
.
