The MAGNIFICAT.

I.
1 MY Soul extols the mighty Lord,
2 In GOD the Saviour joys my Heart:
3 Thou hast not my low State abhorr'd;
4 Now know I, Thou my Saviour art.
II.
5 Sorrow and Sighs are fled away,
6 Peace now I feel, and Joy and Rest:
7 Renew'd I hail the Festal Day,
8 Henceforth by endless Ages blest.
III.
9 Great are the Things which Thou has done,
10 How holy is thy Name, O LORD!
11 How wondrous is thy Mercy shewn
12 To all that tremble at thy Word!
IV.
13 Thy conqu'ring Arm with Terror crown'd
14 Appear'd the Humble to sustain:
15 And all the Sons of Pride have found.
16 Their boasted Wisdom void and vain.
V.
17 The mighty from their native Sky,
18 Cast down Thou hast in Darkness bound:
19 And rais'd the Worms of Earth on high
20 With Majesty and Glory crown'd.

VI.
21 The Rich have pin'd amidst their Store,
22 Nor e'er the Way of Peace have trod;
23 Mean while the hungry Souls thy Pow'r
24 Fill'd with the Fulness of their GOD.
VII.
25 Come, Saviour, come, of old decreed!
26 Faithful and true be Thou confest:
27 By all Earth's Tribes in Abraham's Seed
28 Henceforth thro' endless Ages blest.
